BREAKING NEWS: Man pleads guilty to murder of Robert Chester on second day of trial

A 51-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the murder of a man in his Northampton home.

A trial started yesterday (Wednesday) in the case of Karl Pound, of Hunsbarrow Road, Briar Hill, Northampton, and Mary Cash, aged 39, of no fixed abode, who were both charged with the murder of Robert Chester in his home in Rothersthorpe Road on October 8 last year.

Today (Thursday) the jury were brought into court and told Pound had pleaded guilty to the murder of Mr Chester.

His Honour Judge Rupert Mayo said the jury were now discharged from reaching a verdict in the case of Pound.

Judge Mayo said the case would continue against Cash, who denies a charge of murder. The trial will resume tomorrow (Friday) morning.
