Appeal as south Northants church lead targeted by thieves

Police officers are appealing for information after two churches have had lead stolen from them in South Northamptonshire, including one just outside Middleton Cheney.

St Mary’s Church in Thenford, less than two miles east of Middleton Cheney, had lead taken from its roof sometime between 7pm on Friday, December 13, and 10am on Saturday, December 14, when the unknown offender/s gained access to the church grounds via the fence of a neighbouring property.

The same church also had lead stolen from the roof between 6pm on Monday, December 30, and 10am on Tuesday, December 31.

A second church, St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Courteenhall, was hit on Sunday, January 19, between 2am and 4pm, when lead was removed from its roof. A white van and a silver Mondeo were seen acting suspiciously in the area at the time.
