A pub in Northampton owned by Northants County Cricket Club is expected to be sold for more than half a million pounds at an auction next week.
The County Tavern in Abington Avenue, which includes a kitchen and living area, is being sold by the cricket club to raise funds for the 2015 season.
Commercial property auction house Acuitus will offer the pub at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London on Thursday, February 12.
The sale was agreed at an extraordinary general meeting last month when members voted on a number of fund-raising proposals, including a bond initiative and loans from directors.
Gavin Warren, Northants’ chairman, told the Chronicle & Echo last month: “We are always looking at ways to raise more money to invest in the cricket club as it is very challenging running a cricket club.
“We have got pretty big ambitions as to what we want to achieve with the cricket club. It is the biggest cricket club between here and Lords.”
