Plans have been submitted to make way for a new pizza parlour on the premises of the Fresh Fish Supermarket in Cowper Street, off Kettering Road.

But the leader of the Labour Group, councillor Danielle Stone, wants the application overturned and "strongly" objects to it.

She said: "Cowper Street is already at saturation point with reference to parking.

"This is a residential street - shops are and should be - all located off the main drag of Kettering Road.

"The pollution will increase to unacceptable levels, both with noise, rubbish and vehicles."

She also raised concerns over anti-social behaviour in the area and questioned whether Kettering Road is likely to receive the same level of policing as the town centre.
