Northamptonshire-based Bewiched coffee already has outlets in Wellingborough, Corby, Kettering and Peterborough, but now the firm is looking to open in Northampton’s main shopping centre.

Owner Matt Fountain, 41, from Kettering, is planning to spend £60,000 decking out a unit on the first floor of the Grosvenor Centre opposite Costa and Primark, but says he is not intimidated by his multi-national neighbour.

He said: “We have no fear when it comes to trading next to the biggest Coffee business in the UK, as we do this very successfully in two of our existing sites.

“There is a genuine drive in our business, to provide something better than the bigger generic brands, as a result the training, expertise and execution within our teams, will often come as a very pleasant surprise to the public.”

Mr Fountain said he has been looking to find a site in Northampton for the past five years.

“We have had actually had three deals fall through, but are very pleased to be finalising a deal with the Grosvenor Centre,” he added.

The coffee house could be open as early as September.

Bewiched outlets also offer loose leaf teas, milkshakes, frappes and food alongside coffee and Mr Fountain intends to put a gelato stand in the Grosvenor centre outlet.

Recruitment is set to begin soon and anyone interested in working there should upload a CV via www.bewiched.co.uk.

Bewiched has further expansion plans over the next twelve months, including a site in Rushden Lakes Retail Park a possible “drive-thru” site, Mr Fountain said.
