Employees at TNT Express, based in Round Spinney, were told this week were told a new distribution centre was being built in Dartford.

One worker, who did not wish to be named, said he had been told the new depot was scheduled to open in May next year but Northampton employees had not been given any indication of what would happen to the Northampton depot.

The worker said: “The general mood is that everyone is unsure. Everyone is worried about their jobs.”

A spokesman for FedEx said for the “forseeable future” it was “business as usual” for customers.

The spokesman said: “The details of how to best bring our operations together will be determined as we work together to implement our integration plans.

“FedEx and TNT are both focused on maintaining the high quality of service we provide our customers today.”
