Appointments were cancelled at NGH “in the interests of patient safety” after a computer problem affected medical monitoring equipment.

The hospital said on Thursday afternoon that five patients had to have treatments moved to next week after the issue with anti-virus software.

The program covers regular desktop PCs but also electronic monitoring equipment used in angiograms, for example.

A hospital spokesman said: “There is no risk at all to patient data and there has not been at any time.”
