A pay by text service at Northampton train station car park will be back up and running within days, it has been confirmed after complaints from commuters.
The service is designed to make it quicker for rail passengers to pay to park and allows commuters to call or text on the train as long as they do so within 30 minutes of parking.
However, the special phone line has been down for several days, leading to frustration for passengers who are pressed for time or do not have change.
Lara Ayris, who was a victim this week, said: “There were no signs warning that it was out of order so presumably some people will only realise once they are on the train and have left their car unpaid for.
“To make matters worse some of the card machines were out of order on Monday too. I spent ages trying to find one that worked and only did so when someone kindly pointed it out.”
The car park is managed by Meteor on behalf of London Midland.
It is understood the service had been broken for about a week but should be working within days.
