Classical music festival in Northamptonshire

The Best of British will be on show at a music festival in Brixworth next month.

The Brixworth Music Festival will take place at the Church of All Saints in the form of a series of concerts held on two weekends between September 16 and 25.

Opening night will see a concert entitled Best of British, featuring the lauded Northampton Concert Band conducted by Graham Tear, a must for those who enjoy the Last Night of the Proms.

And on September 17, the Northampton Chamber Orchestra will offer a rare chance to hear symphonic music in a village setting.

Other guests include the German accordion virtuoso, Irene Urbach, who is professor of accordion in Nuremberg and will be playing in such styles as chanson, tango , folk music classical and avant-garde,

The last concert, Song for Athene, will take place after Evensong on the September 25.

Vivienne Olive, joint artistic director, said: “We look forward to seeing people at the Brixworth Music Festival in September and can guarantee they will be able to enjoy two weekends of interesting and varied programmes in our beautiful Brixworth Church of All Saints.”

Tickets are priced £12 for adults, £10 concessions and £8 for under-16s and can can be bought either via the festival website or at the door.

For the last concert, which is by Fiori Musicali, different pricing will apply.

All concerts start at 7.30pm.
