Cinema, trampolining centre and four-star hotel revealed among the options for Greyfriars site in Northampton

The two schemes that will make up the redeveloped Greyfriars site in Northampton have been revealed.

Scheme one would be led by either an eight-screen cinema or trampolining and mini bowling centre.

Scheme two would see a smaller cinema with 11 restaurants including Deans Diner, Turtle Bay, Five Guys and Zizzi.

Both would have a four-star hotel and coach bays as well as a mixture of residential flats and student accommodation.

Both are now on display in the Court Room at the Guildhall and can be seen from 12 noon to 8pm on Monday 18 July; from 9am-8pm on Tuesday 19 July and Wednesday 20 July.

Visitors will be able to see what the schemes could look like and understand how they link to the rest of the town centre, as well as leaving their comments, which will be fed back to the developers.

Jessica D’Aulerio, chair of northampton town centre Business Improvement District, said: “This is a key town centre site with masses of potential and we are keen to see it developed in a beneficial way for town centre businesses.

“We’ll be considering the plans in detail this week to understand which option would be best for the health and growth of the town centre business community.

“We of course encourage all business owners in the BID area to view the plans and share their views too.”

Final recommendations on which scheme will be taken forward are to be discussed by the Borough Council’s cabinet in September.
