Thieves broke into a Northamptonshire church while it was being used as a polling station for the European elections.

St Andrew’s Church in Rockingham Road, Kettering was broken into sometime between 9.30pm on Wednesday May 21 and 8.30am on May 22 - the day of the election.

However, officers investigating the case believe the break-in most likely happened while the venue was being used as a polling station.

The offenders kicked down the door to an office inside the church, causing considerable damage.

They then searched through filing cabinets in the office before taking two Lenovo brand laptops and a Western Digital hard drive.

Anyone who is asked to buy the electronic equipment, or has any information about this incident can call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
