On Wednesday this week bosses at the club, known as Woody's, invited characters from Beauty and the Beast along for a Valentine's Day afternoon tea, where children were invited to wear fancy dress, join in with dancing and feast on party food.

Manager Jane Corrigan joined Woodland View After School Club two years ago as deputy manager before recently taking charge and boosting Ofsted ratings from Good to Outstanding after an inspection in May 2017.

Jane said: "Holiday clubs are based on different themes and I ensure planned activities allow children of all ages to be involved, dress-up and meet themed characters who pay us a visit."

She added: "Our friends from 'Just Party' provided the characters and they have visited us many times with lots of characters. We have a superhero day planned for the April holiday...so who will make a guest appearance we wonder?"
