Child left with serious injuries after falling from a height in Northampton shopping centre

The incident happened at about 5.50pm on Saturday, March 4 at the Grosvenor Centre and a critical care car and ambulance attended the scene.

The boy, who witnesses said was aged about seven, had fallen from a significant height near the Market Square end of the shopping centre and one eye-witness was stood at Burton when she saw the accident.

Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance’s critical care car was activated at 5.52pm, arriving at the scene of the accident at 6.25pm.

A spokeswoman for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) said: "A WNAA crew worked with East Midlands Ambulance Service and community responders to assess and treat the patient, who had suffered serious injuries.

"He was given advanced medical support by the crew, who then travelled in the land ambulance with EMAS to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire."

A spokeswoman for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 5.51pm on Saturday, March 4, to the Grovesnor Shopping Centre. The caller reported a fall from a height. Our ambulance crew arrived within minutes of the call and the patient was taken to Coventry and Walsgrave General."
