In 2013, a three-storey office block in Cliftonville was converted into a primary school, known as Stirling Campus of Abington Vale Primary School.

A group known as The Rooftop Family Space have now been granted planning permission to develop the rooftop space into an outside learning space that could be used by local arts, drama, music and sports groups.

A spokesman for the charity said the group would need to raise more than £500,000 to complete the project and was hoping to get a large capital grant from an organisation such as the Big Lottery Fund.

The spokesman said the rooftop space, measuring 5,750 square foot, would be a unique learning environment and would provide much needed outside space for pupils at the school.

A launch afternoon for the charity was held on Thursday which was attended by project partners including representatives from the local council.
