Award-winning hairdresser Lee Stafford has teamed up with Tresham College to train school leavers and adults in the latest haircuts and cutting edge techniques ready for the workplace.

Mr Stafford met staff from the college’s hairdressing team last week to introduce the Lee Stafford Academy which will be based at the college’s campuses in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough.

Tresham has offered courses in hairdressing for many years and by teaming up with Lee Stafford and his team, the college will be the first in Northamptonshire and one of only five across the country to be able to offer the most up to date training from September 2016.

While visiting the college, staff were able to ask questions about the new partnership and Mr Stafford spoke about how he started his career from his mum’s front room before owning his own salons and endorsing his own products.

All students who have applied to study hairdressing courses at the college from September either on full time courses or through the apprenticeship schemes will learn specially designed ‘recipes’ which are unique to Lee Stafford Education, reflecting some of the most cutting-edge styles seen in salons across the UK.

Mr Stafford said: “I am extremely excited to be partnering Lee Stafford Education with Tresham College.

“We are both committed and passionate about drastically improving young people’s standards.”

College principal Stuart Wesselby said: “We are delighted to introduce another exciting partnership to our provision ensuring that our students leave college with the skills they need for the workplace.

“Working with Lee is a fantastic opportunity for our staff and students to benefit from his experience and enthusiasm.

“It is important for us, as a college, to provide the best learning experience we can for each student and by training the hairdressers of the future in such inspiring environments, Lee and his team are helping us do just that!”

Tresham’s hairdressing team will complete an intensive three-week training boot camp over the summer to master the techniques and ‘recipes’ used by the Lee Stafford Academy to pass on their knowledge to students in September.
