Celebration of black actors supported by Northampton's Errol Flynn Filmhouse with series of films

Northampton's Errol Flynn Filmhouse will be supporting a celebration of black actors with six films starting next month.

The filmhouse, run by Royal & Derngate, is taking part in BFI BLACK STAR: Black Musicians on Film, a short season of uplifting and enjoyable films with a musical theme, through Film Hub Central East, part of the BFI Film Audience Network.

BLACK STAR is a celebration of the range, versatility and power of black actors on film and TV, taking place at BFI Southbank and nationwide, on DVD and on BFI Player.

The Errol Flynn Filmhouse in Northampton, kicks off with 1972’s The Harder They Come on November 5, followed by a Reggae-themed launch party, 9pm till late. Boyz N The Hood will be screened on November 13, The Bodyguard on November 20, Dreamgirls on November 27, Purple Rain on December 4 concluding with The Wiz on December 11.
