CCTV footage has been released of a man police believe may be able to help with information about an alleged rape.

Northamptonshire Police investigators are keen to talk to the man identified in the footage, taken inside Millenium Pizza in Abington Square, who may have information about the serious sexual assault that is alleged to have happened in the early hours of Saturday, April 4, between 4am and 5.45am.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said it was believed the alleged victim met up with two men and a woman at the top of Abington Street, near the junction with York Road and The Mounts, and then walked with them to Wellingborough Road, near Sainsbury’s Local, when one of the men and the woman left.

The CCTV footage shows a man who was in the area at the time and officers would like to speak to him to see if he has any information about the incident.

Investigators are keen to speak to the two men and the woman who walked with alleged victim to Sainsbury’s, and are asking them to contact Northampton CID on 101.

Officers would also like to speak to a man who may have seen the victim a short time later, following the assault, somewhere in the area around Wellingborough Road and Kettering Road, near the town centre and The Mounts.

Witnesses, or anyone who recognises the man in the pictures, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident 111 of April 4.
