CCTV image of distraction burglary in Northamptonshire is released

Police have released this CCTV image after a pensioner is his 80s had his house keys snatched by burglars and later found his home had been raided.

The distraction burglary took place in Richmond Road, Towcester, on Christmas Eve, between 2.30pm and 4pm.

Two men approached the 84-year-old victim on his driveway to his home and asked for directions.

Detectives say they believe the men stole his door keys while talking to him and later, while he was out, raided his home.

They stole a laptop and a television.

The men are both described as being white, with strong Eastern European accents, in their mid-20s and were about 5ft 8in.

One was of medium build with short dark hair and was wearing a dark green jacket, blue jeans, white trainers and a woolly hat.

The other is described as being of slim build with short black hair and facial hair. He was wearing a green or brown duffle coat with a hood, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police say there were lots of people around at the time of the offence and are appealing to them to come forward.
