Car completely destroyed by fire during blaze at playing field in Northampton

Firefighters were called to a playing field in Northampton this afternoon where a car was on fire.

Fire crews from the Mounts received an emergency call at 2.25pm today (Monday) to Briar Hill Playing Field where there was a car on fire.

The vehicle was sat between mature trees within the recreation ground off Hunsbarrow Road.

Firefighters spent around 45 minutes at the scene, which was also attended by police.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said the car had been completely destroyed by the blaze.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
