Buddies of Beckets Park held a launch event for visitors which included displays about the park, a bouncy castles, and the chance to make Japanese Cranes from paper with help from an Origami teacher.

Sue Ward, who has studied the ancient Japanese art of paper folding for several years said: "The Crane represents peace and good luck and there is a belief that if you make a thousand of these mystical birds, good fortune will come your way.”

Luisa Jepson, secretary of BOB said: “Buddies of Beckets is the newest community park group in Northampton. The event was partly to raise awareness of our aims and partly to consult with park users. We have had a lot of feedback and will be analysing all the information, ideas and comments we have received over the next couple of weeks to come up with our action plans.

"The Park appears to have been unloved for a while but we are keen to restore pride in the Park and encourage more community events."

Isobel Thompson, another member of BOB, added: “It was a great afternoon and really brought everyone together to discuss Beckets Park.
