A Northamptonshire businesswoman has been nominated for a national award which celebrates the achievements of inspirational women.
Marika Hillson is the financial director of Wollaston-based NPS Shoes and has been placed on the shortlist of the Real Business First Women awards in the First Women of Manufacturing category.
Katja Hall, CBI Deputy Director-General, said: “The First Women Awards is a great way of celebrating successful women in business – strong female role models represent a critical piece in the puzzle that will help to make UK businesses more balanced.
“This shortlist represents senior businesswomen across all sectors of the UK, but companies should not rest on their laurels and must continue to build the talent pipeline by supporting more women into management roles and helping mothers return to work.”
Marika has made it through to the final round of judging She is up against Joan Jones of Granfit Holdings, Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company, Sarah Brown of Pai Skincare, Sian Holt of Fudge Kitchen, and Sylvia Hopwood of The Recycle Works.
Presenter and BAFTA-winning broadcaster Clare Balding will host the awards ceremony on Thursday, June 11, at the London Marriott Hotel, in Grosvenor Square.
