Town centre streets most in need of a deep clean have taken a blast this week in a new scheme designed to bring a sparkle to Northampton.

The targeted cleaning programme is being funded by Northampton town centre Business Improvement District (BID) as part of its ongoing commitment to providing additional cleaning services to improve upon Northampton Borough Council’s existing statutory provision.

The BID funded cleaning crew took to Gold Street, College Street, Swan Yard, Jeyes Jetty and the Drapery this week, with the team next week due to target alleyways and streets around the Market Square, including Emporium Way and Mercers Row.

Andrew Cruden, BID Director and owner of Market Square News said: “We want shoppers, visitors and workers to have a positive experience when they come into Northampton town centre and ensuring it is an attractive and appealing place continues to be one of the most important issues for the BID.
