Burglars trick their way into home of woman, 83, in Northamptonshire village

An 83-year-old woman fell victim to distraction burglars after a man got into her house and claimed that there was a problem with the water supply.

The woman was in her kitchen in Church Lane, Stoke Doyle, near Oundle on Wednesday, July 29, when a man walked in through the back door at about 7.30pm.

He engaged the woman in conversation, stating that there was a problem with the water supply, at which point the victim’s son interrupted them.

Both men then went into the back garden, at which point two other men walked into the house, searched it and stole cash.

The three offenders and possibly a fourth man, left in a black car.

All four offenders were white men, in their mid-20s, with one of them of slim build, with short brown hair and about 5ft 10in.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information regarding it.
