Police are reminding people to make sure doors and windows are locked after an iPad was stolen in a burglary in Daventry.

The burglary happened yesterday (Wednesday) between 5.45am and 5.30pm, at a house in Grenville Close.

The offender/s broke in through an open window at the back of the house. They stole an iPad and left the house the same way and through the back garden.

PC Andrew Scott said: “When we have good weather, it’s very tempting to leave a small window open, thinking no-one will be able to climb through.

“But unfortunately on this occasion, the offender was able to reach in and open a larger window that they could climb through.

“It may seem obvious advice but it’s important to get into the habit of locking all doors and making sure all windows are closed every time you go out and ideally when you leave the room too”.

“Many burglars are opportunists and even if someone is at home, if a door or window is open, it can take just seconds for a burglar to steal a handbag left in the hall or set of keys left on the window sill.”

Witnesses, or anyone with any information about the stolen iPad, are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
