A burglar stole cash from a house in Northampton after pretending to install a safe in the bedroom of the property.
The burglary happened at about 6pm, at a house in Wallbeck Close, Kingsthorpe after a man knocked on the door and claimed to have come to fit a safe because there had been a lot of burglaries in the area.
Once inside the house, he suggested the bedroom would be a suitable place for a safe and asked the female victim to wait while he checked something. He then left the house having stolen cash.
The burglary on Friday evening. The burglary is described as a white man, 5ft 5in, with a stocky build, in his late 40s to 50s, with short, dark greying hair. He was wearing dark, casual clothing.
Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously or any suspicious vehicles in the area around the time of the incident, or anyone with information, is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
