Burger King set to move into site of former pub in Northampton town centre

Panesar Enterprise UK Ltd, the company that runs the Burger King in Market Square, Northampton, has submitted plans to change the use of the ground floor of the former Eastgate pub to a takeaway restaurant.

The first floor of the pub is likely to be converted into residential accommodation.

Paul McManus, co-owner of McManus Pubs the company that run the Eastgate, said he had sold the premises to the Burger King chain.

Mr McManus said the company had initially planned to refurbish the Eastgate but had decided to invest in other areas of the business.

When the pub closed last September it employed eight people, some of whom were offered jobs elsewhere in the company, Mr McManus said.

A public consultation on plans to turn the pub into a Burger King will end on May 9.

Panesar Enterprise Uk did not wish to comment on the plans when contacted by the Chronicle & Echo.
