The UK’s most talented dog, Northamptonshire’s Pudsey, will star in a movie produced by Simon Cowell’s entertainment company.

Pudsey, a border collie, bichon frise, Chinese crested cross, shot to fame after winning Britain’s Got Talent with his owner Ashleigh Butler.

17-year-old Ashleigh, from Wellingborough, and Pudsey became popular after performing their dance routine to The Flintstones theme tune on the ITV show.

Pudsey:The Movie is due to be filmed later this year and is expected to be released in time for Christmas 2013.

The Telegraph spoke to Pudsey’s owner Ashleigh just hours before she was due to perform on stage with Pudsey at last night’s National Television Awards, and she said: “To be honest, I don’t know a lot about it at the moment. My management had been talking about it for some time and Ithought it would be a good idea, but it has only just been confirmed so there’s not a lot I can say.”

Cowell’s company Syco has teamed up with Vertigo Films, the makers of StreetDance 3D and Monsters, to co-produce the film and it is expected to be a fictional film about the dog’s life intended for a family audience.
