A police spokeswoman said that the man was not a defendant fleeing the court room.

She said an altercation between a man and a woman on Sheep Street led to a police chase.

The man entered the court building as he was trying to evade capture.

She said: “There was an alleged altercation between a man and a woman, officers pursued the man outside the courts and arrested him.”
