BREAKING NEWS: Main road into Northampton shut following serious accident

A main route into Northampton was closed by emergency services this morning after a girl was hit by a car.

The air ambulance coming into land at Great Billing Way.

The A5076 Great Billing Way in Billing was shut this morning in both directions because of an accident at the Blackthorn Road junction.

Congestion backed up to Rectory Farm Road junction and the air ambulance is now at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the emergency services were called out at 8.10am this morning after reports of a child being hit by a car.

The air ambulance coming into land at Great Billing Way.

The child, which understood to have been a girl, was first treated by paramedics before being flown to Birmingham Children’s Hopistal by air ambulance.

Her current condition is not yet known.

The vehicle involved in the accident have now been recovered from the scene, and Great Billing Way has been reopened to traffic.
