Brave souls needed for ghost hunt at Wellingborough hotel

If so, tickets are still available for anyone who wants to be part of ‘Hellnight’ at Wellingborough’s Hind Hotel on October 31.

While organiser Dennis Binks and his team of ghost hunters are not giving too much away about what the night will include, he said they have had some good experiences at the hotel in the past, including seeing someone dressed as a jester.

The hotel, which dates back to the 17th century and started out as a coaching inn, is where Oliver Cromwell is thought to have planned the Battle of Naseby and is believed to be haunted.

Mr Binks from Corby said: “This is about the fourth time that we have done it there.

“Most Haunted were there many years ago and we have been there a few times.

“We are doing this for a charity which is called Macy’s Memory.

“It’s a marvellous charity and all the proceeds will go to that.”

Starting at 9pm, those taking part will spend several hours with Mr Binks and his team of investigators, who are both mediums and ghost hunters.

Mr Binks said: “We do all sorts, it’s open to the public.

“It will include standing in one of the most active rooms which used to be a chapel or a church and it is now the restaurant, a lot of things happened in there.”

He also joked that anyone taking part should ‘bring a change of underwear.’

The ghost hunt will go on until the early hours, wtih Mr Binks adding: “We like to go through the witching hour.

“It’s Halloween night of all nights.

“It’s supposed to be a full moon that night so all the boxes are ticked.”
And for anyone unsure about whether they are brave enough, he said: “We don’t leave anyone behind.”

Tickets cost £15 and are available by calling Mr Binks on 07914 270842.

Half of the tickets have already been sold so anyone wanting to buy one should get in touch soon to avoid missing out.

Money raised by the event will go to Macy’s Memory, which supports families of children with a life-limiting illness from birth to the age of 18.

It was launched by Katrina Baker of Corby, whose daughter Macy died in March 2008 aged just 22 months.

The youngster had Patau’s syndrome which left her blind, deaf, with kidney and brain abnormalities and severe lung disease.

The charity can help with fees towards a funeral, headstone, last wish UK holidays as well as sensory toys and equipment.

Mr Binks is part of the Northamptonshire Paranormal Investigation Team, which meets at the St John Ambulance Hall in Corby.
