Bomb squad called to Northampton neighbourhood after 'suspicious device' found in woods

A bomb disposal squad from the Ministry of Defence was called out to a Northampton neighbourhood today.

A bomb disposal unit and a police van at Shadowfax Drive this afternoon.

A "suspicious device" was found in a wood near Shadowfax Drive, Lings, at around 11.30am today (December 13) prompting a full emergency reponse by the MoD.

Bomb disposal crews, police and fire & rescue were called to the scene to examine the object.

A spokeswoman from Northamptonshire Police said: "The device did not pose any immediate danger and was removed."
