Body found at Northampton block of flats 'not being treated as suspicious'

Police say the sudden death of a man at a Northampton block of flats is not being treated as suspicious.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing police officers and an ambulance outside of Berwick House in Chalcombe Avenue, Kingsthorpe yesterday afternoon (Sunday, August 19).

Northamptonshire Police has now confirmed that a body was discovered in one of the flats there.

However the force has confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “Police were called to an address in Chalcombe Avenue, Kingsthorpe, at about 3pm yesterday (Sunday, August 19), following the discovery of a deceased man at the property.

"A post mortem examination has been carried out today (Monday, August 20) and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Next of kin have been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
