Bins on a Northampton park have been smashed in an overnight vandalism spree.
Residents woke up this morning (September 7) to find three public bins on the Racecourse lying in splinters or torn out from their bases.
All three bins are close to the play park, near the pen where dogs can run free.
Pictures of the vandalism were shared on the Friends of the Racecourse Facebook page.
Councillor Mike Hallam, Northampton Borough Council's cabinet member for environment, said: “The vandalism of three bins in one of our popular town centre parks is completely senseless.
“We made idverde [NBC's ground maintenance contractors] aware of the damaged bins first thing this morning. We will work with them to ensure that the bins are either repaired or taken away and replaced quickly so that people can continue to enjoy the surroundings and dispose of any litter appropriately.”
