A mother-of-two from Northampton has admitted falsely claiming more than £40,000 in benefits after she claimed she was a single parent while living with her boyfriend.

Faye Cotter, aged 33, of Cambourne Close, Far Cotton, has admitted fraudulently obtaining a total of £43,425.22 in Income Support, Jobseekers’ Allowance and Council Tax and Housing benefit between September 2009 and October 2013.

Northampton Magistrates’ Court heard Cotter, who is unemployed with two children, was claiming as a lone parent when her partner Stephen Law was living at her address.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction in the case. Cotter will be sentenced at Northampton Crown Court next month.
