RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch currently has around 70 cats, 14 dogs, eight rabbits and four hamsters all looking for their forever homes.
The charity is hosting a cat and rabbit re-homing evening on December 6 from 4pm – 7pm at the Hope Cattery, in Creaton Road, Brixworth.
They include cats like Albus and Tasha, both with different stories but looking for their happily ever after.
Tasha came into branch care in May, along with her siblings, aged just 12-weeks after being found in a garden. After a lot of time and TLC by the Hope Cattery staff and volunteers, Tasha has gone from being a scared and feral kitten, to one that enjoys fuss and love.
Sadly, Tasha is the only remaining kitten as all of her siblings have been re-homed. Could you be Tasha’s happily ever after?
Then there’s the gorgeous and gentle Albus, who has been aged at over 10 years. When he came into the care of the RSPCA back in August, he had poorly eyes, a fractured tooth and was in need of a lot of care. Having now had eye surgery to correct his inward rolling eyelids and clean up his remaining teeth, he is looking a lot better and ready to find his forever family to love.
Dawn Smith, the branch’s Animal Welfare Manager, said: “We have so many adorable animals in our care at the moment, we’re just desperate to find them homes. We are currently at gridlock and have no more space to be able to take in any more animals that need our help.
“We’re appealing to people to please come along and meet our gorgeous furbabies so we can get as many of them in their forever homes."
The RSPCA would like to remind anyone considering getting a pet before Christmas that it is not a good idea to give a pet as a present unless it is known that the person receiving the pet is willing to take on the responsibility of having a pet.
While Christmas can be a busy and hectic time for many households and might not be the best time to introduce a new pet, for other families, the festive period can be a calm and quiet time when people are around the house with time to introduce a new pet and spend time with them.
