A TWO-day archaeological dig has started in a school playing field in Northampton.

The event has been organised by Friends of Northampton Castle (FONC) and the volunteers are hoping to find some artefacts which reveal more about the town’s history.

John Dickie of FONC, said: “We believe this area may have been where the outer walls of the castle may have been.

“What we want to demonstrate is that this area is full of history and we want the community to get involved in the dig.”
