American Flag Football team based in Northampton organises Charity Bowl for Macmillan and Spectrum

Northants Phantoms American Flag Football team is holding a Charity Bowl next month to support two good causes.

The bowl takes place on February 28 and includes teams from across the country. It is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Spectrum Northants.

Northants Phantoms’ coach and defensive captain, Amy Griffiths, said: “We admire what the NFL does for breast cancer and this is our UK flag football version of raising money for a local charity and a national cancer charity.

“Last year the event included 10 teams from the across the United Kingdom and raised £619.96. This year we are looking to expand the amount of teams & the funds we raise to support these great causes.

“We currently have 24 teams from all across the UK coming to play and support these charities,” she said.

The teams playing include Northants Phantoms, Northants Titans, Aylesbury Spartans, Gloucester Centurions, Essex Showboats, Ware Wolves, Beeston Bears, Plymouth Bolts, Plymouth Bolts2, Leeds Beckett University, Reading Lions, Reading Bisons, Sheffield Vipers, Cardiff Hurricanes, Coventry Cougars, Hackney Cougars, Buckinghamshire Wolves, Grangemouth, Manchester Mayhem, Coventry Cougars, Gloucester Centurions, Nottingham Uni, Teesside Steelers, Black Widows and Warwick Wolverines.
