‘Accidental’ fire destroys car parked outside shops in Northampton

A car fire in Northampton yesterday (Monday) is believed to be accidental, according to officers.

Firefighters were called to the car fire off Kettering Road in Northampton at around 5.15pm yesterday after the vehicle caught fire.

The Vauxhall Astra was parked outside Tesco Express in Spinney Hill.

One fire crew from Daventry, who were in Northampton at the time of the incident, attended.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said today (Tuesday) that investigating fire officers believe the blaze was accidental.

The fire started in the engine compartment and completely destroyed the car.
