A Northampton jewellers has been commissioned to make a special gift for Leicester City’s title-winning manager to pin on one of his trademark suits.
Steffans, on the corner of Abington Street, was asked to create a £1,000 gold pin of a fox’s face for Italian coach Claudio Ranieri to congratulate the 64-year-old on winning the Barclays Premier League with the Foxes.
Director Wesley Suter said the jewellers, which made the 18 carat gold item with blue sapphire eyes upstairs at its Abington Street workshop, was approached by an individual to make a commemorative pin.
The jewel will be presented to Mr Ranieri when plans for Leicester’s open top bus parade are announced.
“We were approached to produce a one-off bespoke pin and a pair of cufflinks for the manager, because he wears a suit for matches.
“I’m not allowed to say who commissioned it, but I do know it will end up on the lapel of Mr Ranieri.”
Steffans is also celebrating title success closer to home, by producing a set of Northampton Town Football Club cufflinks to toast the Cobblers’ League Two success.
The cufflinks, which have already proved popular with customers, are on sale to the general public priced at £79.95.
