63-year-old woman left with ‘life-changing injures’ after assault in Northampton

A 63-year-old woman was left with “life-changing injuries” and a man has been arrested after a violent assault in Northampton last night.

This morning two properties on Portland Place, off Wellingborough Road, remain cordoned off while police carry out investigations.

A force spokeswoman has confirmed that an assault took place late last night and a 50-year-old man is currently being held in custody in connection with the offence.

She said: “Police were called to a domestic incident in Portland Place, Wellingborough Road just before midnight yesterday (Sunday, February 7).

“The incident involved the serious assault of a 63-year-old woman who was taken to University Hospital in Coventry with life-changing injuries.

“A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently being held in custody.”
