The Falcon - a Grade II listed Coaching Inn - is reopening to the public this month with a bolthole cellar bar, afternoon tea terrace and yoga sessions

The Falcon in Castle Ashby is reopening on September 28 following a 'multi-million-pound' refurbishment, which sees the hotel transformed into a country retreat with 22 unique bedrooms and a 'destination' restaurant.

But if you don't fancy paying £400 for a two-night stay - which includes special access to the gardens, cycling, wild swimming and yoga - bookings can be made separately for the brand new restaurant, Eyas, afternoon tea and cocktail terrace and bolthold bar.

As well as eight bedrooms, which are located in the main hotel, there are a further 14 rooms set apart in the adjacent cottages, one of which has a private terrace overlooking the fishing lake.

Dinner is served to guests at the hotel’s restaurant, Eyas, which can serve up to 56 covers inside with a further 34 on the large sun-filled terrace.

Lord Northampton said: “We hope to give people a new culinary experience. It is not so much about what will be on the menu but why it is on the menu. Wherever possible, the food will be organic and focused around produce with a nutritious value.

“I would like guests to come away having discovered something different from their usual experience of life.

"Whether it is listening to a lecture or experiencing the beauty and sacredness of nature first-hand, attending a workshop or walking round the formal gardens, I want them to have an epiphany moment and see an alternative way of being to the one they are used to. If they go away having experienced that then we will have succeeded."

The East Wing, which can be hired for weddings, is where afternoon tea and cocktails happen for those looking to indulge, and a stand-alone wellness centre is due to open in 2021.

While drinkers can go underground to the Cellar Bar bolthole bar, which holds up to 30 people.

The Falcon will host a regular yoga programmes with private sessions available by request at The Stables for guests as well as exclusive wild swimming lessons in the private lake which provide a host of healing and health benefits.
