A Northampton woman's private pub that she built in her garden during the lockdown has put her in the running for the UK's best 'home bar' competition.

Emma Sharpe wasn't satisfied with the virtual pub experience so many people have gotten used to during the coronavirus outbreak - so she decided to take it one step further.

Over the course of three weeks and using nothing but old scaffolding boards, the 28-year-old operations manager from Goldings built her own bar in her back garden, complete with fridges and a fully-stocked glasses shelf.

Emma said: "I decided that since I couldn't go to the pub because of lockdown, that I would bring the bar home.

"I had just finished landscaping my garden in the month before the lockdown. I was sat in the hot tub thinking how a drink would be nice but I couldn't go to the pub any more.

"I've no experience whatsoever, but I've always been very hands-on and I thought I would give it a go."

'The Sharpe Shack' took around three weeks to build and is made entirely of old scaffolding boards, poles and elbow grease.

Emma said: "I'm massively proud of it. It's one of those things you only dream of but now I've got it.

Now, Emma's lockdown efforts have put her in the running for the Britain's Best Home Bar competition, run by games room company Liberty Games, with a chance of winning a year's supply of beer.

Liberty Games is asking for the country's DIY-enthusiasts to show them their home-made bars with a chance to win a crate of beer every month for a year.
