Which areas of Northampton saw fewest new Covid-19 cases in the last week - and the most?

Sunnyside, Boothville and Billing all have less than three — Abington and Abington Vale nearly 30

These are the three areas of Northampton that have seen fewest new Covid-19 cases in the last week.

Government figures break down districts and boroughs into areas each with roughly 7,200 residents to give the best comparisons of how the coronavirus pandemic is spreading locally.

And only three of these 31 Middle Super Output Areas in Northampton are showing between nought and two cases in the week up to October 13.

Sunnyside, Boothville and Spinney Hill and Billing are the three areas with fewer than three cases in a period where Northampton produced more than 200 new positive tests for Covid-19.

Neighbouring areas of Abington, Little Billing, Abington Vale and Rushmere remain the most affected areas of the town, however.

Abington had 16 new cases in the last week — compared to seven the week before — and Abington Vale 13. Little Billing saw 12 fresh positive tests processed by labs.

The area of Cliftonville and Rushmere also saw 12 new cases.

Latest data published last night (Tuesday) revealed 37 new positive tests in the borough in 24 hours, 240 in a week.

Analysts convert figures to see what case numbers for districts and boroughs would look like if each area had exactly the same population size, in this case 100,000.

Tuesday's figures took Northampton's rate to 106.59 new cases per 100,000 per week — the highest in the county. Northamptonshire's average is 91.62 per 100,000.

Equivalent numbers in the worst affected areas of the country such as Liverpool and Nottingham are around 470 new cases per 100,000 people per week.
