A Northampton company that supplies IT equipment will remain fully open as long as everyone is fit and well so that staff can continue to supply to NHS frontline workers.

Kingsfield Computer Products, based in Moulton Park, has supplied equipment such as laptops, headsets and webcams to NHS hospitals for more than 20 years.

Now the employees at the company have voted to remain in the office, where they practice social distancing, during the COVID-19 pandemic so they can continue to supply vital equipment at a quick pace.

Company director, Nitesh Ganatra, said: “On Monday I came in and said to the team what shall we do.

“They said that we’ve got to continue sourcing headsets, laptops and webcams for the home workers and even those not working from home.

“They said no way can we work from home as it will take twice as long as isn’t sustainable.”

The business supplies NHS hospitals across the country with IT equipment, including Northampton General Hospital.

During this unprecedented period of time, Kingsfield is experiencing a shortage of supplies, which makes a quick response and good communication between employees more important than ever to make sure all hospitals have the equipment they need.

Nitesh added: “I’m extremely proud of my workforce for wanting to carry on.

“I would personally like to thank them for the loyalty and efforts they have shown.

“If anyone feels a bit unwell all they need to do is say and they’ll go home.

“In the state we are in, it would be unfair to do anything else.”

Nitesh added that some employees have chosen to work from home and others have voluntarily taken a number of weeks off.

He also made it clear that the remaining staff have enough space to work within the social distancing guidelines and that as director he would be reviewing the situation regularly.
