Matthieu Comard, general manager for Avon UK, said: “Avon has always been deeply rooted in the community and during the COVID-19 crisis we are finding ways to support people across the nation.

“At a time when essential hygiene products are becoming scarcer, I am proud that Avon is able to offer its support to those that need it most.”

The beauty company has previously donated more than 45,000 products to frontline NHS staff in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now it has ear-marked thousands of bottles of the new gel to donate to the essential health workers.

Continuing its community support amid the crisis, Avon will also donate bottles of the gel to domestic abuse service users via its charity partner Refuge, which has seen an increase in calls.

The product will also be available to buy from today.
