Another secondary school has confirmed that a number of students are having to self-isolate after a pupil tested positive for Covid-19.

One Year 9 pupil from Sponne School in Brackley Road, Towcester received the positive result last week, but is doing fine according to the school’s leader.

Headteacher, Iain Massey, said: “Last week, a pupil came down with symptoms on the evening of the first day back.

Parents took them for a test and sent us the positive result on Thursday. The pupil is OK.

“We spoke to the local health protection team and we worked with them to see who needs to self-isolate.

“We identified those who had been close to the pupil and they are now working remotely at home.

“There are around 15 students self-isolating and it is nicely under control.

“We have been working in bubbles and all bubbles are in different classrooms and have staggered breaks.

“We have a one-way system in school and we are all wearing face covering throughout the day.”
