A number of schools in the town are reporting a substantial increase in the number of pupils achieving the Government benchmark of five A* to C grades, including English and maths.

Weston Favell Academy and Malcolm Arnold Academy both posted their best ever set of GCSE results, while Thomas Becket School and Caroline Chisholm School also maintained recent improvement.

This year is the last when all the results will be given as A* to G. From 2017, many of the exam boards will start grading the papers from 1 to 9.

The Northampton Chronicle & Echo will have photographers at many of the secondary schools in the town and will be providing updates on each school’s results throughout the day.
