Northampton primary school headteacher in running for national award

Rob Hardcastle, who is in charge of Whitehills Primary School, was nominated for a Gold Plato Award by pupils, parents and colleagues.

Mr Hardcastle was one of 52 Silver award winners announced in June this year, and he will find out whether he has won the gold award at a ceremony at the Guildhall in London on Sunday.

Whitehills Primary School is Mr Hardcastle’s first head teaching post and, since his arrival, he has introduced an ethos that all children should have the highest quality teaching and learning outcomes.

The award nomination states: “His enthusiasm for the wellbeing of the students is prevalent - knowing all the children, encouraging them to achieve their best through his positive presence and his professional approach.”

The Gold Plato Award is part of the annual Pearson Teaching Awards, which celebrate exceptional teachers and teaching.

The host of this year’s awards ceremony will be actor and comedian Hugh Dennis.
