Another Northampton school has made the decision to partially close due to increasing numbers of staff who need to self-isolate.

Northampton School for Boys in Billing Road will be closed to students in years 7, 8 and 9 from tomorrow (March 18).

The school has made the 'difficult' decision to implement a partial closure to 'ensure that the school is operationally manageable against significant long term staff absence'.

NSB will be partially closed until next Friday (March 27) at the earliest.

In a statement on the school's website, headteacher, Richard Bernard, said: "I have taken the difficult decision today to undertake a partial school closure of Northampton School for Boys for students in Years 7/8 and 9 from Wednesday, March 18 until Friday, March 27, inclusive, when the decision will be reviewed.

"During any period of whole-school enforced closure, teachers at the school will continue to set work for all students which will be in line with their normal timetable and home learning allocation for each subject. This work will be set in the same way that homework is set normally.

"This decision has been taken to ensure that the school is operationally manageable against significant long term staff absence arising from the updated Public Health Advice regarding COVID-19.

"The school will continue, at the current time, to remain open for all students in Years 10/11/12 and 13.

"This decision has been taken in the face of very challenging circumstances and I am very sorry for the inevitable disruption that it will cause."

NSB is the third Northampton school to announce a closure or partial closure today.
