Towcester Racecourse has started making its own hemp-based skin and hair care products for people and animals.

The historic greyhound racing track has partnered with a farmer in Devon to make a range of products from hemp oils under the brand TRC Hemp.

Nathan Luke McLaren, from the racecourse, said: "We are extremely proud to represent the organic and natural uses of hemp oils, which are synonymous with high quality.

"We are confident that our products benefit skin and hair growth and repair."

Nathan Luke said he always wanted to produce hemp products and having made PPE at Towcester Racecourse at the start of the pandemic, he realised they had all the equipment they needed.

He contacted David Carroll, a friend of his who moved from Northamptonshire to Devon to grow hemp six years ago under the brand Soap Zero, to supply the central ingredient.

The hemp seeds are crushed in a cold press to make the oils, which are combined with different natural ingredients like rose, cherry blossom and mint to create the healthcare products.

Nathan Luke said: "An ancient plant combined with natural technology is on the rise to replace most of the common high street brands that are full of artificial parabens and foaming agents, which can be harmful.

"Our traditional sense of pride and quality continues to play an important part of TRC Hemp's philosophy.

"In our unique workshop nestled in the breath-taking 390-acre estate of Towcester Racecourse, we utilise the hemp plant to its greatest strengths.

"TRC Hemp can provide personal care, beauty and pet products with a unique twist, we are 100 per cent organic from root to tip."

The items are not available to buy online yet but keep an eye on TRC Hemp's Facebook page for updates.
